This is our second opportunity of joining, sharing, and of course, witnessing the visit of Philippine Secretary of Education, Honorable Leonor Magtolis Briones, this June 27, 2017 at the Philippine Consulate New York. The 1st time we joined the same education forum was the former Philippine DepEd Secretary Br. Armin A. Luistro FSC during his visit in New York City on February 24, 2012. It was really a splendid and informative matters especially of public interests upon knowing the qualities of Filipino teachers and students back home at present, and the accomplishments of DepEd Philippines as well. According to Secretary Briones, the K to 12 Curriculum, a nice program that covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School [SHS]) has more benefits compared to the old curriculum of 10 years in basic education because it provides Filipino students sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learning, and prepare graduates for tertiary education as mature individuals.
